The Gathering
This past May Crossroads launched its newest ministry endeavor in South Africa - Crossroads Youth Ministries. The Crossroads Youth Ministries kicked off with a ministry event we are calling
 “The Gathering” – a once a month regional gathering of young people from various church backgrounds who are hungry for a fresh revelation of God, who are passionately opening their hearts and lives to His work and His mission, and who desire to live a life of holiness towards God. Our first Gathering, on May 8th, 2009, had over 100 young people from 7 churches coming together for an evening of praise and worship and seeking God. In looking at the turmoil of South Africa – politically, socially, relationally, and economically – it becomes apparent that we the Church must engage the youth of this nation with the truths of Christ and the hope embedded within His gospel.
One of the goals of Crossroads Youth Ministries is to host these Regional Youth Gatherings each month and use them as a
 means to inspire, challenge, and motivate Christian young people to live lives worthy of Christ and to call them into the work of God on their campuses, with their friends, and around the block as well as around the world. These Regional Youth Gatherings help to break down the denominational walls which tend to isolate us replacing it with a spirit of unity while fostering a unified effort to lift up Christ to a lost world.As a follow up Malcolm Nair, the Youth Ministries Coordinator for Crossroads, South Africa, is meeting with local Youth Pastors and Youth Workers planning not only future “Gatherings” but also the mobilization of Christian young people for future evangelism outward into all of South Africa. Though separated by time and distance you can play an integral part in the future impact of these young people not only on South Africa but beyond.
