Run for a Cause
kent__jeanne_-_3.jpgAs Crossroads expands, our needs expand with it and the challenge of gaining the required financial backing at times can be overwhelming.
That is why I’m excited to share with you a great opportunity by which you can impact children’s lives half way around the world. For no more than the cost of two value meals at a fast food joint of your choice you can participate in shaping a child’s future destiny.

How? One of our staff members, Jacki Kofahl who heads up our Alpha Care Program, will be running in an upcoming charity race to raise awareness and funds for children living in the slums of Mumbai, India.  All proceeds go to help expand the Alpha Care Program adding 25 new children into a grade one class.

Below is a personal letter Jacki sent to everyone she knows but I also wanted to challenge all of you who are friends of Jeanne and I or of Crossroads to step up and make a difference. I hope you will take a minute to read Jacki’s brief letter of appeal and ask yourself if you too could join her in this cause to bring life and eternal liberty to the children of Mumbai’s slums.

All the best,
Kent Kelley
Founder, Crossroads International

Hey Friends,
I just wanted to give you all an update on what I have been up to in the last few weeks since the school year started. With both kids going off to school it has freed up some time for me to begin working for an organization that my dad started about 16 years ago called Crossroads International. Most of my time has been focused on working with the Alpha Care Center that is in Mumbai, India. It is a school for children who would normally spend their days on the streets begging for food and dogging predators but instead are given an education, food, and medical attention when needed.  For me these are necessities that I could never imagine not having or being able to give to my children but for millions of families in Mumbai this is their reality.  The faces of these children are in my thoughts constantly and all I can think about is “what can I do to ensure that these kids are given every opportunity to change their reality?”  The Alpha Care Center has had amazing success and because of that success there are children waiting to attend the school and many who have been attending but need to move up to 1st grade.

So with that being said.  On Oct. 10th I will be participating in a race called "Run for Your Cause" and I am running this race to benefit these kids.  I want with all my heart to be able to provide the funds needed to get the 1st grade up and going.  It is mind boggling to me that for a little over a thousand dollars a first grade could be up and running for these kids that so desperately need it.  For just a thousand dollars these children could be given food and an education instead of spending their days and nights on the streets of Mumbai hoping today is not a day they are raped, kidnapped to be sold into Human Trafficking, or worse.

A thousand dollars – that’s not a lot of money and with your help we can supply Crossroads with the means necessary to give these kids a real chance at life.

So how is this going to happen you might ask? My goal is to get 100 people to give 10 dollars by the 10th of October.  I am not asking you to give the whole amount I understand that this is a big task in this day and age but what I am asking is for you to give something to help make this dream a reality in the lives of these children. Every dollar counts no matter how small and every gift gets us one step closer to our goal.

Then if I can ask one more thing, help me Spread the Word.  However you have to do it!  If we work together I know this dream can become a reality and together we have a chance to change the lives of children half way around the world.
