As Christmas approaches our thoughts turn towards family's reuniting, memories of Christmas' past, and the birth of our Savior, Christ Jesus. Christmas is called the Season of Giving, as gifts are exchanged with loved ones and we remember those less fortunate than ourselves. Over 2,000 years ago this Season of Giving was inaugurated by our Father, giving His Son to a lost world. With that initial gift, Hope was reborn as the "light" of His Word penetrated a dark world.
This Christmas you're invited to birth Hope in the lives of others.
The past few months Crossroads has been working in Pakistan in response to the epic floods which ravaged that nation. Thousands were killed and nearly a third of the homes in the northern region were destroyed, leaving tens of thousands homeless. Left with nothing more than the clothes on their back these families haven't the means for rebuilding their lives or providing the basic needs of their children. The coming winter months only complicate matters. Many families were torn apart as hundreds of children became orphaned overnight. Left defenseless newly orphaned children face not only hunger and disease but also the threat of becoming child sex trafficking's next victim. Close to 400 of these newly orphaned children were recently rescued by our ministry partners in Pakistan. These children are now safely in a Catholic orphanage in Pakistan. But with the on-set of winter the orphanage fears it won't be able to provide the basic needs of these 400 orphans - blankets, a jacket, a pair of shoes.
In the midst of this Holiday Season's hustle and bustle - with presents to be bought, parties to go to, and family gatherings to look forward to - pause and reflect for a moment on how you might birth hope and bring joy to others this Christmas. One way to do this is by doing some of your Christmas "shopping" through the Crossroads Christmas Catalog found below. The Crossroads Christmas Catalog provides you a way to give hope to orphans and joy to flood devastated families in Pakistan this Christmas.
Have a very blessed Christmas!

Give a Goat~$75
Food for Families...

Many Pakistani families are awakened every morning by hunger pains that won't be quieted today, tomorrow or next week. Recent floods left them without homes, food, water, last season's harvest, and no seeds for planting in the spring. Thousands of families lost everything. There doesn't seem to be a way out of the desperation. But that's where you can step in and help bring change. This Christmas give a Pakistani family the gift of a dairy goat.
A healthy dairy goat produces up to 16 cups of milk a day, not to mention the yogurt and cheese produced from these animals too. Goat milk is easier to digest than cow's milk; it's an excellent source of calcium, protein and other essential nutrients young children need to ward off sickness and diseases. Goats are practical animals - flourishing in harsh climates while producing valuable manure to fertilize crops and vegetable gardens. Goats also provide a needed income stream as offspring and additional quantities of milk are sold, thereby making families self-sufficient.
Give Shoes~$20
Shoes for the Orphan...
Approximately 400 newly orphaned children were added to a local Catholic orphanage in Pakistan as a result of the recent flooding, their lives dramatically altered in a matter of seconds. However, shortages in food, clothing, and other basic life necessities makes providing more than a simple shelter for 400 orphans an enormous undertaking. With winter just ahead one of the greatest needs is for shoes. This holiday season consider giving the gift of a pair of shoes to a child left without family or a place to call home.
Give a Coat~$20
Protection agains the harsh Winter...
Winter in Pakistan's northern region is harsh with strong frigid winds and snow. For an orphan a winter coat is a luxury. Many will face the cold winter rains and snow with nothing more than a T-shirt to wear or whatever torn pieces of clothing they find rummaging through the trash. A winter coat is one way you can warm the heart of an orphaned child this Christmas.
Give a Blanket~$7
Wrap a Child...
As winter closes in a warm blanket is essential for survival. Blankets are one of the basic needs orphans and children of families who lost everything in the floods will need to stave off the cold winter days and nights. This Christmas wrap a child in a warm winter blanket.
