| A Ride Through the City |
|
Towards the end of the day, with increased boldness, these youths rode to the top of a mountain overlooking the city to a well-known Hindu temple named Sai Baba. At their own personal risk (these temples are sacred and protected by Hindu priests, anyone believed to be disrespecting or mocking the gods of this temple are punishable by law), these young people began to walk around the temple praying against the spiritual strongholds that have held this city for centuries and worshipping the one true God. Crying out to God, they asked for a Christian church to be established on this same mountain. This mountaintop now a place dedicated to idol worship and the continuance of evil would be replaced with a church honoring the God of all time and that God's glory and His presence might shine from this mountaintop as a beacon into every dark corner of Mumbai where sin abounds within the lives of the lost. These young people have a great understanding of the spiritual darkness that dominates their city, they have a deep longing for God to establish His truth within the city, and the radiance of His presence to be felt demonstratively on the crowded streets of Mumbai. As these young people left the mountain unharmed and filled with the love of God, each of them commented to Olem that this has been a "monumental day for them" reflecting on how powerfully they felt God's call upon them to go into their city and proclaim who Jesus Christ is! Their faith on "fire" and a deep passion for their nation these young people returned to the bustling streets of Mumbai with a renewed desire to do all necessary to reach their people with the Gospel of Christ. This was a "Good Friday Service" these young people will remember for many years to come. Our prayer is that what was felt as a "monumental" day will serve as a turning point in their lives and the city of Mumbai. You can help us continue stirring that passion and implementing ways and programs designed to engage the Youth of Mumbai, India with the claims of Christ and the gospel of salvation through your financial gifts to the Youth Ministry of Crossroads. When giving simply mark your gift as "Youth Ministry" and these additional gifts will reserved for reaching the Youth of Mumbai. |
